About Us
Welcome to the South School! South Elementary School is one of five elementary learning communities in Stoughton, MA. We currently have 264 students in 14 Classrooms, Grades K-5. As a learning community, we strive for both academic and personal excellence, keeping our focus on the Core Values of Respect, Responsibility, Love of Learning, Creative Thinking, and Effective Communication. With an emphasis on collaboration and teamwork, our students, staff members, and families work together to make sure that each child reaches high standards of excellence as a student and citizen and develops the skills and knowledge necessary to live a happy, healthy, and productive life. Our team of excellent classroom teachers is supported by a strong group of educators, including: Special Educators (with a focus on Inclusion support); Literacy Specialist; Occupational Therapist; Physical Therapist; Speech Therapist; Specialists in Technology, Art, Music, and Physical Education; Librarian; Counselor; Custodian; Secretary; Nurse; and Paraprofessionals (providing Inclusion support). Mission Statement
The Mission of the South Elementary School is to develop a community of lifelong learners who possess a strong sense of moral responsibility grounded in respect for self and others, effective communication skills, and problem-solving abilities that demonstrate both academic competencies and higher-order thinking skills.
