South Elementary School

The South Elementary School Building Committee will be holding two community forums later this month to provide more information about the ongoing South Elementary School building project. The first session will be in-person at the South School cafeteria, 171 Ash St., on Saturday, January 21 at 1pm. The next session will be virtual on Tuesday, January 24 at 7pm via Zoom. (Click here for the Zoom link.) All SPS families and Stoughton community members are welcome to attend these forums.

We are working in partnership with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) on this project, which will address the significant accessibility, water infiltration, and mechanical issues of the current building, and ultimately provide a more effective learning environment conducive to meeting the educational needs of all children and their families.

We are in the process of conducting a feasibility study for the South Elementary School building project. This is a thorough process that will allow us to examine and evaluate all of the issues and determine the best course of action.

We have also started to assemble a project team. We are excited that some of the key members of the team that oversaw the building of the new state-of-the-art Stoughton High School will be working with us on this project. Vertex, formerly known as Compass Project Management, has been selected to serve as Owner’s Project Manager, and DRA (Drummey Rosane Anderson) has been selected as the project’s designer. Both served in those capacities during the SHS project.

To learn more about the project, and to stay up-to-date with the latest happenings, we encourage you to like the South Elementary School Building Project Facebook page and to visit the project’s page on the Stoughton Public Schools website.
