Dear SPS Families:

Over the weekend, I had the honor of participating in the 2021 Holiday Parade of Lights through downtown Stoughton. A little rain and mist didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of all involved. It was great to see the bright lights, watch the colorful floats, enjoy the cheering crowds, listen to our very own marching band and participate in this annual tradition. It was a great night and one I will look forward to for many years to come.

Continuing with the holiday spirit, I want to extend an invitation to our Stoughton High School music events this week. First, the Stoughton High School Winter Choral Concert on Wednesday evening, December 15, 2021, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature the Concert Chorus, Treble Chorale, Symphonic Choir, Jazz Choir, and Stoughcatos. On Friday, December 17, 2021, at 7:30 p.m., come back to Stoughton High School and enjoy the Winter Instrumental Concert featuring the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Tuesday Jazz Band. Both events are taking place in the auditorium. Tickets are sold at the door; $5/Adults, $3/Students and Seniors, with a $10 family maximum. Hope to see you there.

Along with everyone in the country, I was shocked and saddened to hear of the devastation and loss of life in Kentucky and across many states in that region Friday night into Saturday morning. Tornados strike with little warning causing destruction on a level we don’t often experience here in New England. Particularly difficult during the holidays, the devastation shown in the before and after pictures makes us all grateful for everything we have.  As I listened to the news yesterday, already we are hearing inspirational stories of people gathering together and helping each other during this most difficult time. Please know of my deepest condolences for all of the victims and their families.

I truly appreciate the warm welcome I’ve received here in Stoughton as I’ve attended events and met with families over the last two and a half months. It is an honor and a privilege to be your superintendent.
