Congratulations to the O'Donnell Middle School students who won the middle school division of the Stoughton Talent Showcase! Travis Remy came in first place in the middle school division, Kostas Giatrakos came in second, and Max Arroyo came in third. The Stoughton Talent Showcase was held March 11 at the SHS auditorium. It was an entertaining night showing off the amazing talents of our own Stoughton Public Schools students with 21 acts split between three divisions - elementary school, middle school, and high school. The judges did not have an easy task deciding on the winners!

The SPS Fine Arts Department held its annual Pajama Concert last week featuring bands from SHS and OMS. Students in the OMS 8th grade band, the OMS Jazz Band, the SHS Concert Band and the SHS Wednesday Jazz Band performed while wearing their pajamas in what was a fun night with a more casual atmosphere than a traditional school concert.

On Mondays, members of the Stoughton High varsity wrestling team work with O'Donnell Middle School students as part of an intramural wrestling program. Thank you to the varsity wrestlers who take a little extra time to give back to the community, and help teach many enthusiastic young potential wrestlers! Coach Helfrich, Iverson, and Gallan see a lot of potential in this group of OMS students, and are excited to help teach them about the sport of wrestling.

Here is a picture of O'Donnell Middle School principal Matt Colantonio reading to preschool students at the Jones Early Childhood Center! In celebration of Read Across America, the Jones Early Childhood Center had special guest readers visit classrooms on March 1 and March 2.

Take a look at some pictures from the O'Donnell Middle School 7th & 8th Grade Winter Choral Concert, held last month at the Stoughton High auditorium. Both the 7th grade chorus and 8th grade chorus did a great job!

Congrats to the winning homerooms for the Black History Month Door Decorating Contest at the O'Donnell Middle School! Winners of the contest were rewarded with a pizza lunch before February vacation. Congratulations to grade 6 winners in Mrs. Dailey’s homeroom for their depiction of Shirley Chisholm, grade 7 winners in Ms. Diabate’s homeroom for honoring Maya Angelou, and grade 8 winners in Mrs. Murphy’s homeroom for their portrayal of Brown v. Board of Education. Special thanks to John P. Russell Insurance Agency in Stoughton for providing the delicious pizzas!

Officers Bonda, DeCelle and Evangelista from the Stoughton Police Department recently stopped by our summer program at the OMS and spoke with some incoming 6th graders. Thanks for spending time with our students!

Bus postcards were mailed out on Friday, August 13 and families should be receiving them this week (the week of August 16). Students will need to show the postcard to the bus drivers when they board the bus.
